Demetra

Demetra, writer and homesteader, creates work palatable to both children and adults. Her creative process and the resulting experience of her finished work is unhurried and nourishing. As she develops a sequel to Heiro and Demetra, a tale of love and self sufficiency in harmony with the natural world, illustrated by botanical pressings, Demetra is weaving her real life experiences into practical offerings for readers, including recipes.

“I have decided to start a homesteading blog because I feel that homesteading is an important skill to have. One of the categories I will write about is slow-rise sourdough. I am sensitive to gluten, so slow-rise sourdough is the only wheat product I can eat. Therefore, I am on a mission to recreate my childhood favorite baked recipes, and share them with others who could use them. Other topics on the blog will be soap and lotions (from tallow), jams and preserved foods, gardening, and more.” -Demetra
